Leeds United’s injury problems have left Marcelo Bielsa without plenty of key players at various points in the season, but Patrick Bamford’s lengthy layoff has deprived him of his big summer recruit for almost the entirety of the campaign.
The injury list seems to pile up at Elland Road at a never-ending rate, with Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper the most recent reported casualties.
But with the new year beckoning and supporters beginning to turn their attention towards the January transfer window there is a major boost looming on the horizon.
Indeed, after more than three months on the sideline Patrick Bamford is edging closer to a full return, as he started for the U23 side yesterday in a 6-3 thrashing against Burnley’s U23 side.
Bamford was the star of the show at Burnley as he notched a hat-trick on his first competitive start since September, including a sumptuous dink to level the scoreline.
His performance caught the eye of the Whites faithful on Twitter and plenty of them expressed their delight over the enormity of his impact in the aftermath of proceedings.
And with Izzy Brown also bagging a goal it’s an exciting time for Leeds supporters as they prepare to welcome two attacking talents back into the fold.
Here’s what some Leeds fans have had to say about Bamford’s return to action yesterday…
