This bit-part Brighton man could be the final piece in Carlos Carvalhal’s Wednesday puzzle

Sheffield Wednesday fell to a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat in the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs, and boss Carlos Carvalhal will look to re-group his men to launch another attack on the top six.

Wednesday fans in the Transfer Tavern remain in buoyant mood despite their beloved side’s defeat, and are confident of challenging for promotion again next season.

A good chinwag at the bar with our landlord over potential summer transfer targets revealed a need for another central midfielder, and the suggestion of a move for Brighton’s Oliver Norwood got everybody thinking.

Norwood was something of a bit-part player in Brighton’s successful campaign last season, starting only 16 of the Seagulls 46 Championship games.

The Northern Ireland international may be seen as dispensable this summer as Brighton head to the Premier League, and new additions to the side could push the former Manchester United youngster further down the pecking order.

If boss Carlos Carvalhal can strike a deal for Norwood, the player would add a new dynamism to the Wednesday midfield they lacked at times last season, and would be an excellent start in ensuring the Owls return to the top flight for the first time since the year 2000.

Wednesday fans…. Would you lik Norwood at your club? Would it be a good fit? Let us know below!
