The Burnley fans in the Transfer Tavern tonight are buzzing with excitement over their potential new number nine.
Reports from the Daily Star have revealed that Burnley manager, Sean Dyche is preparing a £20 million offer for Leeds United striker Chris Wood.
The Kiwi forward bagged a whopping 30 goals and four assists in all competitions during the 2016/17 campaign which has seen him become a hot property in the transfer market.
Burnley are in need of a replacement for the departed Andre Gray who left recently for Watford and our landlord thinks £20 million for Wood could wind up being an absolute steal.
Wood is a classic number nine.
He is a lethal finisher and his strength makes him a big threat from set pieces too.
Not quite the pacey forward that Gray was for them but variety is the spice of life, and a change of attacking style could be what Burnley need to push on this season after an impressive start.
The report suggests that Leeds have already lined up Ross McCormack as a potential replacement should this move go ahead so it is unlikely they will put up too much of a fight for the player.
If Wood can transfer his goal scoring ability into the top flight, then Premier League defences be afraid. Be very afraid.
