Nottingham Forest and Leeds United are two teams that will be hoping to be at the top end of the Championship table come the end of the season.
In order to be amongst the upper echelon, they will need to have solid defences, depending on experienced figures such as Danny Fox and Pontus Jansson at the City Ground and Elland Road respectively.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
Nottingham Forest signed Fox from Southampton in 2014 for £1.4 million after a successful loan spell at The City Ground.
The Scotland international has had a turbulent time at Forest, as he has been in and out of the team, and has had some fractious relationships with some of his managers, such as Dougie Freedman.
But Fox has been quite a popular figure under Aitor Karanka with the Reds, where he has been reinvented as a centre-back and seems to get a fair amount of game time.
At 32 years old now, there isn’t much chance of selling the player on for more than they bought him for, but he continues to be a dependable and solid signing for the East Midlands giants.

Leeds signed Jansson from Serie A outfit on a season long loan in the summer of 2016. The Sweden international immediately became a success at Elland Road under Garry Monk and became a fan favourite.
He earned him place in the Championship Team of the Season after his first campaign, and he signed permanently for the club for £3.5 million. Since then, he has continued to be a rock at the back for Leeds under all managers that they’ve had, and at 27, he looks to be crucial for years to come.
A very good signing indeed no matter what way you look at it.
TT Grade: A+
Fox has become a dependable defender for Nottingham Forest, and will be part of the engine room that may see a fair amount of success this season. However, he is in no way more influential than Jansson is at Leeds.
And it is for that reason that the Swede simply has to win this transfer battle.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
