West Brom supporters in the Transfer Tavern have been significantly more upbeat in recent times after seeing their team secure back-to-back victories in the Championship.

Darren Moore’s men were tipped by many to be challenging for an immediate return to the Premier League this season, but they made a poor start in losing 2-1 at home to newly-promoted Wigan Athletic on the opening day. A 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest followed to give the Baggies their first point, but things have been markedly better in recent matches, as Moore’s side have got the better of Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers, beating the latter 7-1 last weekend, to move up to seventh place in the division.

As such, there have been many happy West Brom fans up and down the country in recent times, although several have expressed their disappointment at seeing QPR seal a deal for Brighton striker Tomer Hemed.

And given how impressive the £2.25 million-rated Premier League outcast (as per Transfermarkt) has been at second tier level over the years, the Baggies could live to regret failing to sign him this summer.

Ultimately, the 31-year-old made the move to English football with Brighton back in 2015, and embarked upon a stellar first season at the AMEX Stadium in netting 17 times in just 40 appearances for the Seagulls, helping Chris Hughton’s men to a third place finish in the Championship.

And while he wasn’t quite as prolific the season after, the Israel international again proved his second tier credentials by scoring 13 times for the South Coast outfit to help them finally seal promotion to the Premier League.

But with just 16 top-flight appearances for the Seagulls last term, as well as failing to make either of Hughton's match-day squads for their opening two matches of this season, it was clear that the striker was some way down the Brighton pecking order.

Nonetheless, Hemed is very prolific in the second tier and would have been a huge asset to any side in the Championship, not least a West Brom team which, outside of Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle, are pretty short in the striking ranks.

And while both the aforementioned duo are excellent strikers and will likely score plenty of goals for the Midlands club this season, it’s going to be difficult for the duo to maintain that level over the course of the campaign - Gayle struggled with injury the last time he turned out in the second tier.

Yet it is Steve McClaren’s struggling QPR, who have yet to pick up a point from their first four matches, that have sealed a deal for the 31-year-old, but given just how impressive he has been in the second tier in recent times, Moore’s West Brom could live to regret not going after the striker this summer.
