West Brom fans in the Transfer Tavern are preparing for life in the Championship after they were relegated from the Premier League.

Despite a late charge, the Baggies finished bottom of the table in a disastrous season. Alan Pardew was given his marching orders following a dismal run of form and was replaced by Darren Moore. He almost led the club to safety and impressed enough to earn the job on a permanent basis.

Their plans for next season took a huge hit when Jonny Evans decided to leave the club for Leicester City costing the Foxes just £3m due to a relegation release clause. To add insult to injury, Ben Foster is also set to leave the club on the cheap with Watford on the verge of completing a £2m move for the Englishman. However, our regulars have reason to be optimistic.

To replace Foster, the Baggies completed a £5m deal for Manchester United goalkeeper – Sam Johnstone. Valued at £2.25m by Transfermarkt, the 25-year-old is the perfect replacement for Foster. He spent last season on loan at Aston Villa making 45 appearances and keeping an impressive 20 clean sheets. Aston Villa fans in the Tavern were hoping to make his temporary stay permanent before the Baggies swooped in.

Losing Foster is a blow but replacing him with Johnstone is an excellent move. He is a long-term option in between the sticks and is a quality ‘keeper. This move is a step in the right direction as they look to secure a return to the Premier League.

West Brom fans, thoughts?
