West Brom team news: Jake Livermore suspended for Derby encounter

West Bromwich Albion will be looking to make a return to winning ways when they meet Derby County on Wednesday night.

The Baggies are coming off a surprise 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic at the weekend and will now entertain Frank Lampard’s side at The Hawthorns.

Both teams have been playing well this season in the Championship and both find themselves in contention for promotion to the Premier League.

Darren Moore will want to see a reaction from his team when they take to the pitch, however, he will be without a couple of key men for the game.

According to a match preview by Sky Sports, Jake Livermore will be unavailable for Albion as he is suspended following the red card he picked up against Wigan.

The midfielder will serve a one-match ban after he picked up two yellow cards in the defeat to the Latics on Saturday.

Craig Dawson, Gareth Barry and Matt Phillips are all doubts, whilst Bakary Sako continues to work on his fitness since joining West Brom on a short-term deal.

The Verdict:

Livermore’s absence will be a huge blow to West Brom on Wednesday as the midfielder has played a crucial role for the side this season.

The 28-year-old has been ever-present for the Baggies this season in the Championship and has recently admitted he has fallen back in love with the game after a drug scandal.

Moore will be hopeful the likes of Phillips, Barry and Dawson will all be available as well as Derby will pose them a huge threat on Wednesday night.
