Leeds United currently find themselves in a promising position in the race for automatic promotion to the Premier League, having impressed under Marcelo Bielsa.
The Whites managed to secure all three points against Bolton Wanderers last time out, as Patrick Bamford came off the substitutes’ bench to save the day at the Macron Stadium.
Indeed, Bielsa has gotten the very best out of a number of players in the current campaign, which has certainly helped the Whites’ push for promotion. One player that has really excelled so far this season is Kalvin Phillips, as he continues to put in match-winning performances in the middle of the park and at the heart of the defence.
But, with the Yorkshire club putting contract negotiations on hold with the Englishman at this moment in time, a few concerns have been raised as his contract runs out at the end of the season.
Sadly, promotion rivals West Bromwich Albion have registered an interest in securing the services of Kalvin Phillips at the end of the season, if Leeds fail to win promotion to the Premier League and the Baggies do.
It comes as some surprise that Andrea Radrizzani hasn’t done everything in his power to tie down the midfielder to a new deal at Elland Road, especially with another club eyeing a potential swoop.
So, with the 23-year-old possibly deciding against a new deal with things taking a long time or with failure to secure promotion to the Premier League putting the Baggies on red alert, Leeds run the risk of gifting West Brom an absolute steal as he has already been tipped for an England call-up and has the potential to become a future star.
