Brentford fans must be wondering how their side can put some form together after a rather great start to the Championship season.
Admittedly, the departure of Dean Smith to Aston Villa did not help those at Griffin Park, however, their results and performances have been a rather mixed bag if we are honest.
In recent weeks, the club have managed to produce a win which has then been followed by a defeat, with the same cycle repeating itself.
For instance, fans were delighted with the hammering of Blackburn Rovers but will have been disappointed with the loss against Nottingham Forest.
Things improved slightly for Thomas Frank’s side when they beat Aston Villa and then smashed Hull City, but then they lost to a resurgent Sheffield Wednesday outfit.
With a team that consists of the likes of Ezra Konsa, Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins, amongst a host of others, the west London outfit should ideally be doing a lot better than their Championship standing suggests.
And, if things do not improve for Frank’s side, Brentford fans must be wondering what the future could hold for some of their key players in the summer.
One man that has been extremely impressive this season is Said Benrahma in recent weeks. The young Algeria international has been a real creative force for the Griffin Park outfit throughout the campaign, but his performances appear to have been turned up a few notches recently.
The 23-year-old has recorded eight goals so far, with seven in his last eight Championship matches including a fine hat-trick against Hull City, and has provided 11 assists for his team-mates in his 30 appearances.
The winger’s performances have not gone unnoticed either, with Sky Sports recently naming him top of their Power Rankings within in the division for the second week running, further highlighting the talented Brentford man.
If Benrahma continues his ascent into turning into the type of player his current form suggests he could be, Brentford could be in real trouble in trying to keep hold of him.
Brentford fans, do you fear Benrahma could be too good for your club and could move on in the summer if things do not improve this season? Join in the discussion below by sharing your thoughts.
