The Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern are more curious than anything about their new signing.
Everton youngster, Matthew Pennington has put pen to paper on a season long loan to Championship club, Leeds United.
Some Leeds fans took to twitter not to voice any sort of negative opinion, just to state that they don’t know who he is.
So for those of you in the same boat, here is a look at Pennington, and why he is a great loan signing for Leeds.
A no nonsense defender, Pennington averaged out at 3.7 clearances per game in the league.
Admittedly, that is in three league games for Everton but still, it’s a good sign.
He concedes very few fouls per game which is unusual for a young centre-back but another good sign.
Aged only 22, a full season within the Leeds starting 11 could be exactly what Pennington needs to bring his game to the next level.
He’s tall too, just breaking the six-foot mark and uses that height to great advantage in the air.
His versatility will be of great use to Leeds also.
He has the ability to play at: left back, centre back and right back meaning he could soon become a crucial part of the Leeds back line.
