Voting is now open for the August/September Championship PFA Bristol Street Motors Player of the Month Awards, the awards that give fans a platform to decide who has put in the best performances every month.
As ever, the Championship has proven to be one of the most exciting leagues in Europe, with revivals for the likes of Cardiff City, Leeds United and Ipswich Town proving a hugely exciting early narrative to sink our teeth into.
Indeed, the players nominated for this month’s award have shone during the opening stages, so it’s time to take a closer look at them.
Cardiff City’s soft-spoken Sol Bamba has proven a dominating presence in the Bluebirds’ backline and his commanding style of play has given Neil Warnock a solid base from which to build his promotion push.
Meanwhile, his teammate, Junior Hoilett, is proving his class up and down the wing for the Welsh outfit, recovering the sort of form that made him such an exciting prospect with Blackburn Rovers back in the Premier League, chipping in with three goals and laying on a further four assists for his teammates.
Though Bristol City’s strong GIF game has had people talking of late, it’s great to see the performances of left-back Joe Bryan not go unnoticed. It’s been a great month for the 24-year-old Bristolian, whose dynamic performances up and down the flank have led to an assist amid the Robins’ rise to 4th in the table.
Bryan’s not alone in being recognised over at Ashton Gate, however. Indeed, teammate Bobby Reid is another to have helped Lee Johnson’s side put last season behind him, netting an incredible seven times already from a midfield berth.
QPR’s Luke Freeman is another to have particularly impressed after shooting out the starting blocks. The 25-year-old midfielder is certainly establishing himself as Ian Holloway’s creative hub in the engine room, bagging two goals and recording a further four assists.
Elsewhere, Wolves’ overhaul over the course of the summer had many onlookers extremely interested as to how it’d work and one man in particular is going some way into making it a success. Diogo Jota’s arrival at Molineux on loan from Atletico Madrid was widely regarded as a major coup in the Black County and the Portuguese is certainly living up to that very reputation.
The 20-year-old has bagged six goals since taking to life on these shores, as well as an assist, as Wolves look to make the most of the Jorge Mendes connection.
So, with so many good players nominated, who gets your vote?
