Wolverhampton Wanderers fans in the Tavern are still celebrating after winning the Championship trophy and secured a return to the Premier League next season.
The club were taken over by Chinese investment group, Fosun International, back in 2016 and a summer of spending has secured their place in England’s top division next year.
Wolves managing director, Laurie Dalrymple, hinted that spending would continue following promotion with manager Nuno Espirito Santo set to be given more funds to strengthen his squad.
The champions are set to start their summer spending spree by targeting Newcastle forward, Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to reports. Mitrovic joined the Magpies from Anderlecht in 2015 and scored nine goals as the club was relegated from the Premier League.
He quickly fell out of favour under Rafael Benitez, making just six appearances this season, and was loaned out to Fulham in January.
The Serb has hit the ground running since moving to Craven Cottage scoring 11 goals in 15 appearances since making the temporary switch; much to the dismay of Newcastle fans.
Valued at £7.2m by Transfermarkt, he is expected to depart St. James’ Park when he returns at the end of the season with many clubs interested in his services.
Still only 23-years-old, Mitrovic’s best years are ahead of him, the striker would jump at the chance to prove himself in the Premier League again. 97 goals in 245 games is a very respectable record, and Molineux could be the perfect home for him.
If the price is right, this could prove to be a masterstroke of a signing.
Wolves fans, would you be happy to sign Aleksandar Mitrovic? Let us know!
