**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) have been ‘exploring’ the possibility of signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to [Fabrizio Romano](https://www.givemesport.com/88029696-man-utd-exploring-move-for-120k-a-week-premier-league-star-at-old-trafford).**

### The Lowdown: Tielemans linked with Man United

The Red Devils have been looking to bring in two midfielders in recent weeks in Christian Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong. A [verbal agreement](https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1543913048586567680) has been reached between United and the Danish free agent, while a fee with Barcelona for the Netherlands international appears to be edging [closer](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12641715/frenkie-de-jong-manchester-united-close-to-agreeing-transfer-deal-with-barcelona-for-dutch-midfielder).

[talkSPORT](https://talksport.com/football/1140782/chelsea-burnley-man-united-arsenal-leicester-wan-bissaka-tielemans/) claimed in recent days that Erik ten Hag is also a big fan of Tielemans, adding that United are on ‘high alert’ with the Belgian entering the final 12 months of his Leicester [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/profil/spieler/249565).

### The Verdict: Complete midfield rebuild?

It looks as if Eriksen and De Jong could come to Old Trafford over the coming weeks, and bringing in Tielemans could complete a midfield rebuild under Ten Hag.

Hailed as ‘[one of Europe’s top midfielders](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10108967/Leicester-boss-Brendan-Rodgers-calls-Youri-Tielemans-one-Europes-midfielders.html)‘ by Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers, the Belgian has [120](https://www.premierleague.com/players/5865/Youri-Tielemans/stats) games of [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) experience under his belt and appears to be entering the prime years of his career at the age of 25 and a career-high £49.5m [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/marktwertverlauf/spieler/249565) valuation.

He can play in a variety of midfield roles but is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youri-tielemans/profil/spieler/249565) a central midfielder, so he could form a solid partnership alongside De Jong with Eriksen potentially further forward.
