# Time to go: Klopp simply must replace Mignolet with 1 of these 2 great goalkeepers

**Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping Jurgen Klopp can further strengthen his backline by replacing their current ‘keeper Simon Mignolet.**

The story of Liverpool’s season has been around the defence, now it seems Klopp has taken steps to better that. However, Klopp’s next big decision is surrounding the goalkeepers our regulars in the pool room believe.

The German has gone from one keeper to the next, swinging back and forth between the two seemingly every game. With no real number one in place, it creates a feeling of uncertainty in the defence, spreading across the whole backline and seriously undermining Liverpool’s title challenge.

Our barman thinks now is the time to become ruthless, Mignolet clearly doesn’t cut the mustard at Anfield and a more commanding and direct goalkeeper is clearly the answer.

Indeed, Liverpool have the Philippe Coutinho money burning a hole in their pockets and that could be invested into one of these two goalkeepers just ready to make the step up to the Anfield giants…

## Jack Butland

The Stoke shot-stopper could be a great signing for Klopp. He’s got Premier League experience, he’s an England international and could be picked up fairly cheaply for a keeper of his talent, a bit like Jordan Pickford at bitter rivals Everton. With that in mind, our regulars think that Butland is more than ready to make the step up to a top-six team.

By bringing in Butland, it would send a message that he is indeed number one and the defence may just settle down with a regular voice behind them for the remainder of the season.

## Thomas Strakosha

Thomas Strakosha is one of the best shot-stoppers in the Serie A. He currently plays for Lazio and has been an ever-present in the team this season. His strengths are close-range shot stopping and reflexes, which could prove crucial in the Premier league as everything is so fast-paced.

Perhaps the Reds could pick up a bargain in this transfer window and he has been playing for Lazio in the Europa League, which would see him bring some European experience to the table.
