The Toffees kicked off with a [0-0 draw](https://www.premierleague.com/match/46898) against now-champions Liverpool before battling to a [hard-fought 1-0 win](https://www.premierleague.com/match/46911) against Norwich. They followed that up yesterday with a [2-1 victory](https://www.premierleague.com/match/46920) against Leicester City, who are currently third in the table and well in the fight for the Champions League spots.

Richarlison and Gylffi Sigurdsson were the goalscorers against the Foxes and both deserve praise, but Anthony Gordon was arguably the unsung hero for the Goodison Park outfit. The 19-year-old did not have the best of times against Liverpool as he picked up a SofaScore rating of just [6.6](https://www.sofascore.com/everton-liverpool/UsY), but he made up for it here.

In the end, he managed a more than respectable [7.3](https://www.sofascore.com/everton-leicester-city/GY) rating and showed plenty of qualities both going forward and at the back. It was [his ball into the box](https://www.premierleague.com/match/46920) that allowed Richarlison to score the opener, whilst he also completed two of his three dribbles and made two key passes (as per [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/everton-leicester-city/GY)).

Defensively he was more than solid, making [four tackles](https://www.sofascore.com/everton-leicester-city/GY) and winning [eight of his 13 duels](https://www.sofascore.com/everton-leicester-city/GY). His performance will have been particularly pleasing for Ancelotti, whose unwavering faith has given the youngster a chance to show why he is so [highly regarded](https://tbrfootball.com/why-makes-no-sense-some-everton-fans-speak-out-on-19-year-old-gem-in-weird-limbo/) on Merseyside.

All in all, he has [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-gordon/leistungsdaten/spieler/503733) goals for the youth teams this season – after his [first senior assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/anthony-gordon/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/503733/verein/29), the next step is for him to get on the scoresheet for the first team.
