# Tottenham: Kevin Phillips urges Spurs to sign Allan Saint-Maximin

**Kevin Phillips believes that Allan Saint-Maximin would be a fantastic signing for Tottenham this summer.**

### **Spurs urged to sign Saint-Maximin**

The 24-year-old currently plays for Newcastle and has made 21 appearances in the Premier League so far this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-saint-maximin/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272642)).

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/newcastle-united-tipped-to-lose-saint-maximin-to-spurs-phillips/), Phillips believes the winger could leave the Magpies during the transfer window and has tipped him to move to north London. He said:

> *“You could see him going to Tottenham. From their point of view, he’d be a great signing.*
>
> *“There would certainly be at least a dozen teams in the Premier League who would take him.*
>
> *“He’s so unpredictable and he’s got great talent. Even though he had that injury problem, he’s improved as the season’s gone on.*
>
> *“He’s got that end product as well. He’s turning into a complete player. This kid’s got pace and the ability to drop a shoulder, turn this way and that.*
>
> *“From a Newcastle point of view, you’d be devastated to see him leave. But naturally, when you’re a star, everyone’s looking at you.”*

### **Exciting talent**

While at times he can be unpredictable, Saint-Maximin is a top talent. He has managed [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-saint-maximin/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272642) goals and 12 assists since joining Newcastle in the summer of 2019, and so far this season, only Adama Traore has averaged more than his 3.5 dribbles per game ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/Seasons/8228/Stages/18685/PlayerStatistics/England-Premier-League-2020-2021)).

He has also been [compared to Paul Gascoigne and David Ginola](https://talksport.com/football/864775/allan-saint-maximin-newcastle-hatem-ben-arfa-paul-gascoigne-twitter-skill/) – two players who plied their trade at both Newcastle and at Spurs. With a current market value of £25.2m ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-saint-maximin/marktwertverlauf/spieler/272642)), he would likely not come cheap, but at 24 years of age he has plenty of time to refine his talents. As Phillips has said, he could end up being a fantastic signing for Spurs if they were to make a move for him.
