# Tottenham: Further Arturo Vidal update emerges

**Inter Milan midfielder Arturo Vidal is keen on a move to Tottenham, according to [Inter Live](https://www.interlive.it/2022/02/09/calciomercato-inter-conte-vidal-tottenham/), relayed by [Sports Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-particularly-tempted-join-conte-tottenham-certainty-departure-summer/).**

### The Lowdown: Bags already packed

Vidal has been heavily [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-inter-milan-la-tercera-antonio-conte-arturo-vidal-update-latest-thfc-transfer-news/) with a move to north London in recent days, with the midfielder out of [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arturo-vidal/profil/spieler/37666) at the end of the season.

[Chilean reports](https://www.latercera.com/el-deportivo/noticia/va-con-todo-por-el-rey-tottenham-y-conte-hacen-fuerzas-para-fichar-a-vidal/EQQZRYAYT5E2JHQJDG77HTYF74/) say the [Nike](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arturo-vidal/profil/spieler/37666) sponsored midfielder has his ‘bags ready to leave’ Inter and Antonio Conte has personally made contact over a move to Spurs.

The Chilean’s intention is thought to be to move to England for the first time in his career, and a fresh report has now added more fuel to that fire.

### The Latest: Italian update

A report from [Inter Live](https://www.interlive.it/2022/02/09/calciomercato-inter-conte-vidal-tottenham/), relayed by [Sports Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-particularly-tempted-join-conte-tottenham-certainty-departure-summer/), claims that the 34-year-old is tempted over a move to Tottenham specifically to reunite with Conte.

They add that a move away from Inter Milan for Vidal this summer is a certainty, despite the Serie A giants having the [option](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arturo-vidal/profil/spieler/37666) to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

### The Verdict: Avoid?

Vidal appears to be in the twilight stages of his career, starting just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arturo-vidal/leistungsdaten/spieler/37666) Serie A game all season.

He does have plenty of [top-level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arturo-vidal/leistungsdaten/spieler/37666) experience in Italy, Germany and Spain, however, his lack of game time over the last 12 months could make him a risky signing by Spurs ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The club bolstered their midfield ranks by bringing in [Rodrigo Bentancur](https://theathletic.com/news/tottenham-sign-juventus-midfielder-rodrigo-bentancur/smI55qOyNGAs/) last month from Juventus, and although Vidal can play in a [variety](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/arturo-vidal/leistungsdaten/spieler/37666) of central roles, they could be better off looking elsewhere and planning for the long term instead of bringing in the ageing South American.
