# Tottenham: Antonio Conte confirms team news vs Forest, Cristian Romero out

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) manager Antonio Conte has confirmed his team news before the Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest as Cristian Romero will miss out again.**

### The lowdown: Romero’s injury

Romero picked up an adductor muscle injury in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea a fortnight ago and subsequently missed the victory over Wolves.

The 24-year-old Argentina international had originally been [expected to return](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/cristian-romero-injury-update-tottenham-24808491) to the fold in three to four weeks, but [reports](https://twitter.com/AlbicelesteTalk/status/1562464634027642880?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1562464634027642880%7Ctwgr%5E2c60f4ce372d5dbb887e6517dd64946fb3fbbcc2%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.101greatgoals.com%2Ftop-stories%2Fboost-for-tottenham-cristian-romeros-stance-over-injury-return-vs-nottingham-forest%2F) from his homeland suggested the meeting with Forest was a possibility.

However, Conte has seemingly dismissed Romero’s chances of featuring whilst addressing the health of his entire squad…

### The latest: ‘Stupid to take a risk’

Speaking during his pre-match press conference (via [Football London](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/fixtures-results/antonio-conte-tottenham-injury-romero-24862422)), the Spurs boss confirmed that the 11-cap ace would not be ready for the clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He said: “Cristian had a little problem during the game against Chelsea in the final part of the game, but it’s a little problem.

“After the game he started to feel a bit of pain in his adductor. We checked him, and honestly the player wanted to give his availability but in this type of situation especially as we have a lot of games to play, it would be stupid to take a risk. For this reason for the game against Wolverhampton, he’s not available.”

### The verdict: Big loss

Although Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Clement Lenglet are more than capable of forging a solid defensive combination, Romero’s absence is undoubtedly a huge blow to Tottenham’s chances against an exciting newly-promoted outfit.

Last season, the man [on loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cristian-romero/transfers/spieler/355915) from Atalanta earned a superb 7.15 [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/cristian-romero/829932) rating whilst winning 5.9 duels, making 3.3 clearances and 1.5 interceptions on average per Premier League outing.

Hailed as [‘brilliant’](https://tbrfootball.com/ledley-king-praises-tottenham-defender-cristian-romero-pre-brighton/) by Lilywhites favourite and club ambassador Ledley King, Conte is certainly wise not to take any risks with the centre-back and will want him back to full fitness as swiftly as possible.

Meanwhile, there was a positive coming from the pre-match build-up as Conte also confirmed the [‘good news’](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/fixtures-results/antonio-conte-tottenham-injury-romero-24862422) that Oliver Skipp would return to team training next week.
