# Tottenham: Elliot Thorpe to leave this summer

**Tottenham midfielder Elliot Thorpe will leave the club in the summer, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-hoffenheim-battle-leicester-city-in-race-for-tottenham-starlet-thorpe-as-he-exit-nears/).**

### The Lowdown: Mason knows him well

Thorpe, who can play as a [defensive, central or attacking midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/elliot-thorpe/profil/spieler/496661), is [yet to make a senior appearance for Spurs](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/elliot-thorpe/leistungsdaten/spieler/496661).

He’s been a regular for the club’s Under-23 side this season, though, making [18](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/elliot-thorpe/leistungsdaten/spieler/496661) appearances, scoring [twice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/elliot-thorpe/leistungsdaten/spieler/496661).

Interim manager Ryan Mason [knows the 20-year-old well](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-hoffenheim-battle-leicester-city-in-race-for-tottenham-starlet-thorpe-as-he-exit-nears/), coaching the youth team before his promotion following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.

### The Latest: Hoffenheim and Leicester keen

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-hoffenheim-battle-leicester-city-in-race-for-tottenham-starlet-thorpe-as-he-exit-nears/), who have been informed by a recruitment source, report that Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have joined Leicester City in the race to sign Thorpe over the coming months.

They [claim](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-hoffenheim-battle-leicester-city-in-race-for-tottenham-starlet-thorpe-as-he-exit-nears/) that the midfielder will leave north London when his contract expires next month with Tottenham set to fail in their bid to agree on a contract extension.

Thorpe was [training with the first team when Mourinho was in charge](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-hoffenheim-battle-leicester-city-in-race-for-tottenham-starlet-thorpe-as-he-exit-nears/), but it seems as if his days at the club are now numbered.

### The Verdict: Not ideal for Spurs

It seems as if the club wanted to keep Thorpe at the club, going off the [reported](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-hoffenheim-battle-leicester-city-in-race-for-tottenham-starlet-thorpe-as-he-exit-nears/) contract extension offer, so the latest news could come as a blow to Spurs officials.

The fact he was called up to first-team training by Mourinho this season may show he has the ability to make it at the top level, and he doesn’t have a shortage of suitors.

Both Hoffenheim and Leicester could be smart destinations for the youngster. Several youngsters have left Premier League sides to gain valuable experience in the Bundesliga, such as [Jadon Sancho](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jadon-sancho/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/401173).

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has given [youth a chance at the King Power](https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/brendan-rodgers-instruction-leicester-city-5102546), so it’ll be interesting to see where Thorpe decides to go.
