Tottenham have added West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus as their primary target this summer according to the Telegraph. Kudus has an £85 million release clause in his contract but Tottenham are confident they can agree a deal for well below that.
The Ghanaian would be the first player to cross the West Ham to Tottenham divide since Scott Parker in 2011 in what has been deemed an unofficial transfer embargo between the two clubs. Tottenham are on the market for a marquee attacking signing to kick-start the Thomas Frank era.
The former Brentford boss joined the club following an impressive stint with the Bees, but so far no transfers have followed him. Tottenham had shown an interest in Frank’s former Brentford player Bryan Mbeumo, as well as Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, but Kudus is now seen as the most likely target.
West Ham are willing to sell 24-year-old to help finance a rebuild, and the player is admired by several Premier League and Saudi Pro League clubs. The player is believed to be open to the prospect of a move across London.
Chelsea were one of the Premier League clubs interested in Kudus, but the Blues are now nearing deals to sign forwards Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro.
Spurs keen on Kudus

After joining West Ham from Ajax two summers ago, Kudus scored 14 goals in all competitions in his first season in England, putting the league on notice with his pace and trickery.
He endured a down year last season by his lofty standards, scoring only five times as the Hammers struggled to a 14th place finish. He remains a proven Premier League talent though, and also brings Champions League experience from his time at Ajax.
He can play anywhere across the front line and would be a useful option for Frank.
The future of Spurs captain and long time talisman Son Heung-min continues to be in doubt, with reports linking him with a move away continuing to circulate. Kudus could be seen as a high profile replacement and the first statement signing under Frank.
Tottenham are yet to make an offer for Kudus and the club will most likely need to sell players to help fund signings.
Defender Cristian Romero is another high profile Spurs player tipped with a move away from the club the summer and could bring in a sizeable fee. Atletico Madrid is one of the clubs circling for the player’s signature.
