# Tottenham Hotspur: Fans gush over plans to swap Kyle Walker-Peters for Southampton star

**Tottenham Hotspur may offer Kyle Walker-Peters as part of an exchange for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/walker-may-be-used-in-tottenham-hojbjerg-trade-off/).**

Earlier this year, [Sky Sports revealed](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/11921706/pierre-emile-hojbjerg-tottenham-want-southampton-captain-in-late-move) that Jose Mourinho has identified Hojbjerg at the top of his transfer shortlist, and Spurs are prepared to make a bid for the Southampton skipper in the summer.

However, circumstances have now changed and Mourinho is well aware he will be hampered by a [restricted budget](https://www.footballinsider247.com/walker-may-be-used-in-tottenham-hojbjerg-trade-off/) in the transfer market due to the coronavirus pandemic. Regardless, a source told [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/walker-may-be-used-in-tottenham-hojbjerg-trade-off/) that the board are exploring all avenues to sign the Danish international.

Walker-Peters is considered [surplus to requirements](https://www.footballinsider247.com/walker-may-be-used-in-tottenham-hojbjerg-trade-off/) after taking a potshot at the Portuguese in an interview with [Southampton’s official website](https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/2020-03-25/feature-interview-kyle-walker-peters-southampton-football-club-march-2020) and he has been on loan at St Mary’s Stadium since [January](https://www.footballinsider247.com/walker-may-be-used-in-tottenham-hojbjerg-trade-off/).

The 23-year-old has only played in [one game](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyle-walker-peters/leistungsdatentrainer/spieler/341051) under Mourinho and therefore a trade makes sense, as the Lilywhites would benefit from Hojbjerg’s [wealth of experience](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/pierre-emile-hojbjerg-tottenham-transfer-18272003) in the Premier League. Indeed, the 24-year-old’s strengths lie in fighting for possession, as he is a [strong threat in the air and intercepts passes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/101859/Show/Pierre-Emile-H%C3%B8jbjerg).

As expected, many Spurs fans gushed over the club’s “decent” plans, with one supporter dubbing the proposed swap deal a “no brainer,” and another adding that Daniel Levy should “give them Aurier” as well.
