# Tottenham: Fans slam Eric Dier’s performance against Burnley

**Tottenham fans slammed the first-half performance of midfielder Eric Dier during his side’s Premier League encounter against Burnley on Saturday.**

The England international was the target of scrutiny as Spurs looked to turn round their poor early season form under the newly-appointed manager Jose Mourinho.

Dier was recently [criticised](https://talksport.com/football/423146/tottenham-legend-eric-dier-talksport-alan-brazil-ray-parlour/) for his recent performances during the first half of the season, which saw the demise of former manager Mauricio Pochettino who [lost](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/11865128/mauricio-pochettino-sacked-by-tottenham) his job at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November. He set himself a [mission](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6055527/Eric-Dier-mission-shut-Tottenham-critics.html) to “shut up” his critics last season, which have not appeared to go away.

He has only featured in [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eric-dier/profil/spieler/175722) Premier League games this season as his recent [performances](https://www.footballfancast.com/premier-league/tottenham/tottenham-fans-lay-into-eric-dier-for-european-performance) have seen his game time severely limited, compared to the 2017/18 campaign where he played in [34](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eric-dier/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/175722) matches for the north London side.

Supporters were furious with Dier’s showing and made their feelings clear about it on social media. One fan said that he should work “in a canoe”, while another described him as a liability.

Here you will find some of the many frustrated comments on Dier’s performance against Burnley:
