# Tottenham: Fans slam Eric Dier’s performance in win over Bournemouth

**Tottenham made it [three wins out of three under Jose Mourinho](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50526607) after defeating Bournemouth 3-2 at home this afternoon.**

[Just as they did against West Ham](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50443047) last week, Spurs found themselves three goals to the good before conceding twice in the second half to ensure a nervy finish (as per [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50526607)).

One player who came in for criticism from a number of Tottenham fans after the game was Eric Dier, the midfielder making his [third consecutive start](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eric-dier/leistungsdaten/spieler/175722) since Mourinho took charge earlier this month.

Alasdair Gold of [Football London](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/fixtures-results/spurs-player-ratings-definitely-dele-17342995) gave the 25-year-old a modest rating of six and said that “his passing is still wayward at times”, an observation based on Dier [misplacing nine of the 35 passes](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376051/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Tottenham-Bournemouth) he made against the Cherries, while Gary Pearson of [Hotspur HQ](https://hotspurhq.com/2019/11/30/player-ratings-vs-bournemouth-star-studded-show-tottenham/3/) felt that he had a “poor start and finish” to the match.

His 35-pass total was by far the [lowest among Tottenham’s midfield](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376051/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Tottenham-Bournemouth), with Tanguy Ndombele recording almost twice as many passes ([61](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376051/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Tottenham-Bournemouth)).

These Spurs fans on Twitter were left disappointed with Dier’s performance against Bournemouth:

> Dier needs to be binned. Mourinho still thinks he’s the player he wanted to buy and he isn’t

> Dier is useless. Offered nothing defensively and nothing going forward

> Dier has been on the field for every single goal we’ve conceded under Mourinho, coincidence? I think not?🤨
