# Tottenham fans take to Twitter to tear into Trippier after recent comments

**Tottenham fans have got it out for Kieran Trippier this season. The England right-back had the best summer of his life almost 12 months ago but in the process, he was digging his own grave at club level. Throughout this season he’s been woeful and hasn’t got close to reaching his World Cup levels, with Spurs fans once again slating him here as he’s spoken ahead of facing Ajax.**

> “We believe in ourselves and believe that we can go there and score goals.” – [@trippier2](https://twitter.com/trippier2?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [#UCL](https://twitter.com/hashtag/UCL?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [#COYS](https://twitter.com/hashtag/COYS?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

The comments from Trippier are innocent enough. With the Lilywhites set to face Ajax in just over 24 hours time in Amsterdam, the England man came out and claimed that the Tottenham squad believe in themselves and have faith that they can go to the Johan Cruijff ArenA and score goals. You can read his comments on the *[Tottenham Hotspur website](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2019/may/we-believe-kieran-trippier-on-ajax-return-2/)*, but most fans have just piled in with abuse for the defender.

It is so true that Trippier hasn’t been his best this season, but he’s still been a part of the side and he did his bit home and away against Manchester City as the Lilywhites won 4-4 on away goals in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Now, if there was ever a time to step up and leave the fans with egg on their faces, it would certainly be tomorrow night, and if he can nail a trademark free-kick on the way to a famous win he’d go some way to winning the fans back over.

You can read the Lilywhites’ responses to Trippier’s comments here:

> Stay home & just pray for us Tripps.\
> Make sure Eric Dire stays too.

The Lilywhites have no faith in Trippier ahead of tomorrow night and will hope that he doesn’t start, although if he does he’ll be out to prove them wrong.
