Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were left shaking their heads in disappointment following Paulinho’s latest performance for the Brazilians last night, so the news from [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfers/10964252/Juventus-lining-up-20-million-bid-for-Tottenham-Hotspur-and-Brazil-midfielder-Paulinho.html) has come as something of a relief.

The publication reckons Italian giants Juventus are ready to offer as much as £20 million for the midfield flop, in a move that could pave the way for Arturo Vidal to join Manchester United.

The 27-year-old Chilean has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time, and reports in Italy suggest Juventus have accepted he is likely to move this summer.

Paulinho – who only moved to Tottenham 12 months ago – is seen as a like for like replacement, although Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is likely to demand closer to £25 million for his services.

Paulinho was one of the major disappointments of Brazil’s World Cup squad, which crashed out at the semi-final stage losing 7-1 to Germany last week.

They ended their campaign with a 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in the third place play-off on Saturday evening.

Tottenham paid Corinthians £17 million to sign the midfielder last summer.
