# Tottenham: Gareth Bale could be open to Spurs return after Real Madrid fallout

**According to a report from Spanish news outlet [Deportes Cuatro](https://www.cuatro.com/deportes/futbol/liga/bale-salida-real-madrid-fichar-tottenham_18_2997495164.html), ex-Tottenham star Gareth Bale would welcome a return to north London and looks at the move with ‘good eyes’ – and manager Jose Mourinho is allegedly interested in signing the Welshman.**

Bale, who has been out of favour at Real Madrid under Zinedine Zidane following a [public fallout](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/real-madrid/story/3995186/gareth-bale-not-worried-about-bernabeu-reaction-to-wales-gold-madrid-flag-agent) recently, even being left out the squad for their Champions League tie against Manchester City, is reportedly eyeing an exit from the Bernabeu.

As per this report, Bale was close to a Chinese Super League move but the transfer failed to materialise, with Real Madrid now also looking for a way to get him off their wage bill.

The 31-year-old [‘diamond](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/362631/Gareth-Bale-is-a-diamond-not-a-diver-says-Tottenham-legend-David-Ginola)‘, as he was labelled by ex-Spurs player David Ginola, reportedly earns [£350,000-a-week](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/362631/Gareth-Bale-is-a-diamond-not-a-diver-says-Tottenham-legend-David-Ginola) after tax, and despite Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy being unlikely to shell out those regular fees, Spurs are now linked with a move to re-sign the attacker once again.

Deportes Cuatro claim that Bale would indeed welcome a return to the capital after a very fruitful spell at Madrid, where he won an astonishing [four Champions League titles](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gareth-bale/erfolge/spieler/39381) over a period laden with silverware.

Currently valued at around £25.2m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gareth-bale/profil/spieler/39381), it’s unclear what the La Liga giants want for their man, but they are under pressure to sell quickly as he is only contracted until 2022.

Bale has [made no secret](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gareth-bale-refusing-leave-real-22503996) of the fact that he is willing to be patient and wait for a move whilst pocketing his extravagant salary, and this news suggests that Spurs are the main contenders for his signature.
