# Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold discusses interest in Milan Skriniar

**In a recent article for [Football.London](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/milan-skriniar-kim-min-jae-19653822), Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold discussed Spurs’ interest in Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar.**

In his [article](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/milan-skriniar-kim-min-jae-19653822), Gold claims that it appears unlikely Tottenham will reignite their attempts to sign the [£45 million-rated](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/milan-skriniar/marktwertverlauf/spieler/204069) centre-back, who they were [heavily linked with in the summer](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/milan-skriniar-tottenham-transfer-update-19052327), over what remains of the January transfer window.

The journalist states the primary reasoning behind this is Skriniar’s presence in Antonio Conte’s side so far this season, with the Slovakia international [starting Inter’s last 12 Serie A matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/milan-skriniar/leistungsdaten/spieler/204069).

This is in stark contrast to the back end of last season, when the 25-year-old [started just four of I Nerazzurri’s last eight league fixtures](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/milan-skriniar/leistungsdaten/spieler/204069/saison/2019/plus/1#IT1), leading to suggestions that the club [would be willing to part with Skriniar](https://twitter.com/TheSpursExpress/status/1333567167879540736) over the summer, should they receive the right bid.

However, despite reports claiming that Spurs had ‘[not given up](https://theathletic.com/2265392/2020/12/23/tottenham-transfers-alli-dele-skriniar/)‘ on their hopes of securing a deal for the centre-back in January, it would now appear, if Gold is to be believed, that this hope is all but gone.

### Transfer Tavern Take

In addition to Gold’s points as to why a move for Skriniar would be unlikely from Spurs, perhaps the clearest indication that a deal is not there to be done came from the player himself, when, speaking to the [Inter Milan website](https://www.inter.it/en/news/2021/01/05/interview-skriniar-pre-sampdoria-inter.html) at the start of January, he said: “I always wanted to stay here.”

As such, unfortunately for those Tottenham fans hoping to see the 25-year-old pulling on their club’s colours this month, it would seem that the Skriniar to Spurs rumours are all but dead.
