# Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold makes ‘unexpected’ exit claim

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) correspondent Alasdair Gold has made an ‘unexpected’ exit claim as he shares who could leave the club this summer.**

### The Lowdown: Tottenham exodus looming?

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte is allegedly plotting a major overhaul with as many as six summer signings on his agenda, including a reserve goalkeeper, right-wing-back, centre-back, two midfielders and a forward ([The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/04/20/antonio-conte-targets-six-summer-signings-spurs-face-homegrown/)).

This will inevitably lead to departures with the likes of[Steven Bergwijn](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-conte-paratici-lucas-23786089) and even mainstay [Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-tottenham-pierre-emile-hojbjerg-26804717) being linked with a possible north London exit.

Tottenham’s [mounting club debt](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12476488/tottenham-post-80-2m-2020-21-pre-tax-losses-as-debt-rises-101m-daniel-levy-we-remain-ambitious#:~:text=Tottenham%20have%20announced%20pre%2Dtax,%C2%A3605m%20to%20%C2%A3706m.) and issues meeting their [homegrown quota](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/04/20/antonio-conte-targets-six-summer-signings-spurs-face-homegrown/) are contributing factors which could lead to transfer chief Fabio Paratici attempting to offload a fair few of Conte’s men.

### The Latest: Gold makes ‘unexpected’ claim…

Gold, writing a piece for [football.london](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-conte-paratici-lucas-23786089) and sharing who ‘could leave Spurs this summer’ on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/alasdairgold/status/1518945367450075136?s=21&t=giiqg3-k92T6qCbeuGn2UQ), believes that one [‘unexpected’](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-conte-paratici-lucas-23786089) nominee is winger Lucas Moura.

The 29-year-old has enjoyed impressive displays at points over 2021/2022 with Conte even calling him an [important member](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-conte-paratici-lucas-23786089) of the squad.

However, the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski in January has seen Lucas relegated to the bench and the possible signing of more attackers throws his future into disrepute.

### The Verdict: Stick or twist?

We believe now could be the time to part ways with the Brazilian, despite enjoying some [absolutely huge moments](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11945/11985411/ajax-2-3-tottenham-lucas-mouras-miracle-in-amsterdam-revisited) at the club.

Approaching 30 and the twilight phase of his career, time is running out for Spurs to command a decent fee for his services, with Lucas’ contract also set to expire in two years.

Saying goodbye will be a difficult one for both supporters and Conte. According to [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/30/Show/England-Tottenham), Lucas can still provide a real attacking threat, having averaged more successful take-ons per 90 than any Spurs player in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) this season.

However, his age and lack of starts over the second half of 2021/2022 arguably push him further to the exit door.
