# Tottenham Hotspur: Bournemouth hatch ‘desperate’ plan to keep Spurs target David Brooks

**Bournemouth are determined to keep Tottenham target [David Brooks](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/bournemouth-transfer-rumours/david-brooks-profile/) at the Vitality Stadium following their relegation from the Premier League, [reports](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/david-brooks-tottenham-bournemouth-everton-22453745) say.**

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly plotting a [double swoop](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-spurs-plot-double-swoop-for-bournemouth-duo-callum-wilson-and-david-brooks/?utm_source=snack-poll) for Bournemouth duo David Brooks and Callum Wilson, amid interest from Everton and West Ham in the Welsh playmaker.

According to [The Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/david-brooks-tottenham-bournemouth-everton-22453745), the Cherries have hatched a ‘desperate’ plan to persuade Brooks to say. The board privately believe the former Sheffield United star is key to unlocking an immediate return to the Premier League and hope they can build a team around him capable of challenging for promotion once again.

After dropping back down to [the Championship](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/david-brooks-tottenham-bournemouth-everton-22453745), Bournemouth will have to balance the books by selling some of their biggest earners, but will not go down without a fight.

Eddie Howe signed the Wales midfielder from the Blades for an undisclosed fee in [2018](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44645199), believed to be in the region of [£10m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-brooks/profil/spieler/277033). Brooks impressed at first, scoring five goals in the [Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-brooks/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/277033/verein/989) that year, including a brace against Brighton at home. His season has been derailed by an ankle injury during a pre-season friendly with [Brentford](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/david-brooks-tottenham-bournemouth-everton-22453745) but the Dorset club want to keep him by any means necessary.

The 23-year-old, who plays as an attacking midfielder, only made nine appearances in the [English top flight](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-brooks/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/277033/wettbewerb/GB1/saison/2019) this season, scoring a last-minute consolation against [Manchester City](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-brooks/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/277033/wettbewerb/GB1/saison/2019) as the Cherries came up short.

He is currently valued at £18m via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-brooks/profil/spieler/277033), although it is understood that Bournemouth will not entertain any offers less than [£30m](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/david-brooks-tottenham-bournemouth-everton-22453745) for the Welshman, who has won [12 caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-brooks/profil/spieler/277033) for his country so far.

Spurs have been pursuing [Brooks](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-spurs-plot-double-swoop-for-bournemouth-duo-callum-wilson-and-david-brooks/?utm_source=snack-poll) for several years and it seems Mourinho is prepared to finish the job his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino started. However, it remains to be seen if [Daniel Levy](https://www.90min.com/posts/6595503-7-times-daniel-levy-tried-to-avoid-spending-money) will be willing to meet the steep asking price for an injury-prone player in the summer, and he may have to look elsewhere instead.
