# Tottenham Hotspur: Insider makes major N17 exit claim

**Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/87984754-celtic-10m-star-very-keen-on-hoops-transfer), journalist and transfer [‘insider’](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) Dean Jones has shared some significant exit news out of Tottenham Hotspur.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs rebuild underway?

Spurs manager Antonio Conte again [hinted to the media](https://www.90min.com/posts/antonio-conte-again-hints-tottenham-exit) that he could quit the club if chairman Daniel Levy and transfer chief Fabio Paratici cannot match his ambition in north London.

[Tottenham latest developments!](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-news-copy/)

Much has been made of who could come through the door this summer as the Lilywhites reportedly [plan to back the 52-year-old](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-barcelona-foot-mercato-conte-paratici-depay-update-latest-spurs-transfer-news/) with new signings, but amid the club’s [precarious financial situation](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/tottenham-hotspur-announce-80m-loss-as-impact-of-covid-takes-club-s-total-debt-to-700m-jz9tbh3bd#:~:text=Tottenham%20Hotspur's%20total%20debt%20has,million%20for%20the%20financial%20year.), it is simply imperative that some players also make way.

One of those – defender Cameron Carter-Vickers – has been [excellng on loan north of the border](https://www.thenational.scot/sport/19984793.carl-starfelt-cameron-carter-vickers-celtics-unsung-heroes/) at Celtic as the Glasgow giants remain firmly locked in a Premiership title race with arch-rivals Rangers.

The Hoops possess a purchase option in the deal, rumoured to be a minimum of £6m, not including add-ons which will increase the overall cost significantly ([Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/cameron-carter-vickers-next-celtic-25825818)).

Reports of talks emerged near the end of last year but there hasn’t been much in the way of movement since then.

### The Latest: Jones shares big update…

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/87984754-celtic-10m-star-very-keen-on-hoops-transfer), insider Jones has revealed Carter-Vickers’ personal stance, claiming that the 24-year-old  is ‘very keen’ to join Celtic permanently from Spurs and going on to say that the American’s exit from N17 is ‘realistic’.

The journalist explained: *“I think that Carter-Vickers is very keen, because he feels like he can become part of the project there long-term, and I think it’s one that is realistic to be honest.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done…

Depending on the potential fee agreed, offloading the USA international could be a financial boost for Spurs ahead of the summer, so it seems like a no-brainer to negotiate with Celtic.

Hailed as ‘[outstanding](https://www.thenational.scot/sport/19984793.carl-starfelt-cameron-carter-vickers-celtics-unsung-heroes/)‘ for his form at Parkhead this year by Hoops team-mate Greg Taylor, Carter-Vickers has only played [five senior games in total](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cameron-carter-vickers/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/341049) for Tottenham since first making his debut in 2016/17.

It seems clear that he may not have a future at the north London club, so cashing in on him is certainly the best option.
