# Tottenham Hotspur: Club hopeful that Dermi Lusala will become their latest success story

**There is hope at Tottenham Hotspur that Dermi Lusala will become the latest success story from their academy, following the likes of Harry Kane and Harry Winks into the first-team, as reported by [football.london](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/dermi-lusala-spurs-who-is-17059255).**

Troy Parrott and Japhet Tanganga seem to be the academy players who are [**getting a lot of attention**](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/jose-mourinho-spurs-sessegnon-live-17063673) at the moment, but the 16-year-old right-back is also seen as someone who has a lot of potential.

This will likely be considered especially useful for the future, considering the club’s [**current predicament**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/tottenham/flashback-tottenham-hotspurs-decision-to-sell-kieran-trippier-looks-questionable-now/) at right-back.

Lusala was playing at Brentford until 2016, but [**made his debut**](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/dermi-lusala-spurs-who-is-17059255) for Spurs U18s last season while he was still at school and has also represented England at youth level.

He has also managed to get himself other opportunities at Spurs, including a spot in the team for the Oberndorf Under-19 pre-season tournament this summer, regular games for the U18s and minutes in the [**UEFA Youth League**](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/dermi-lusala-spurs-who-is-17059255) this campaign.

With Oliver Skipp [**getting closer**](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/jose-mourinho-spurs-sessegnon-live-17063673) to more first-team action, there are signs that Spurs are still showing trust in their academy players to make the step up to senior football.

Considering the problems the club have had at right-back this season, it would be great for them if they could have Lusala fill the position, especially if he was to be challenging fellow academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters for a place in the team.
