# Tottenham Hotspur: Daniel Levy gifts club unlikely boost as he refuses to offload Harry Winks

**According to a report by reliable[football.london correspondent Alasdair Gold](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-winks-dele-bale-19442685.amp?__twitter_impression=true), there is ‘no chance’ of chairman Daniel Levy and Tottenham offloading Harry Winks in January – with the journalist explaining why this could come as an unlikely boost.**

Winks, who has struggled for game time ahead of star new summer signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, can only gain valuable minutes at the moment in either Europa League cameos or on international duty with England.

### Levy gifts unlikely Winks boost

Alongside Dele Alli, the academy ace looks to be a non-starter for manager Jose Mourinho – with the current defensive midfield partnership of Hojbjerg and Moussa Sissoko currently thriving in front of the back four.

This has [lead to reports](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/12/11/harry-winks-ready-speak-tottenham-chairman-daniel-levy-future/) of Winks feeling unsettled and potentially likely to leave in the winter transfer window, but [football.london](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-winks-dele-bale-19442685.amp?__twitter_impression=true) explain that there is ‘no chance’ of that happening.

In a boost to the club, Gold explains that Levy refusing to offload Winks will save Tottenham’s homegrown quota whilst providing Mourinho with an astute back-up option – especially given the fact he is potentially one injury away from needing Winks back in the side.

### Transfer Tavern take

Indeed, the correspondent explains that Winks is a ‘[valuable commodity](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-winks-dele-bale-19442685.amp?__twitter_impression=true)‘ because of these factors – with Levy’s reluctance to take January action coming as an unlikely boost to both Spurs and Mourinho.

This saga surrounding whether or not Tottenham will sell the 24-year-old, described as ‘[interesting](https://www.footballinsider247.com/phillips-exclusive-everton-may-sign-tottenham-star-in-january-after-big-reveal/)‘ by Kevin Phillips, appears to have been put somewhat to rest by Gold – but reports could keep flooding in over his future if Winks continues to be underused.

Time will tell whether the midfield dynamo does eventually leave, potentially [next summer](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfer-winks-dele-bale-19442685.amp?__twitter_impression=true), but for now, Levy has gifted Spurs an unlikely booster for the remainder of 2020/2021.
