Bale, who will represent Wales during the break after he potentially takes on West Brom at noon, will be working under Arsenal assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg over the coming fortnight as the 31-year-old looks to potentially gain a fitness benefit from featuring for his country.

Mourinho claimed to the press ahead of Tottenham’s encounter with the Baggies, however, that Bale working with a Gunners staff member makes him ‘uncomfortable’ – and Spurs supporters have gone on to react in mixed ways to this Alasdair Gold team news.

One supporter even said that their boss ‘can be stupid’ sometimes, while another called the view ’embarrassing’ – find all of their best verdicts from Twitter down below.

> As much as it’s probably not the best thing to say publicly I don’t feel it’s right for a national team coach to also work for a professional club. Conflicts of interes can affect decision making wether conscious or not.

> Does Arsenal not pay this coach enough or something? There should be rules against club coaches also coaching in national teams due to potential conflict of interest issues.
