# Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react as FA charge Dele Alli for coronavirus post

**The Football Association have officially charged Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli with misconduct following a social media post about the coronavirus ([BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51652439)).**

On his personal Snapchat account, the 23-year-old shared a video of himself wearing a face mask along with a caption which read: “Corona whattt, please listen with volume,” ([Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-dele-alli-could-be-banned-coronavirus-video-fa-ask-for-observations-a4358586.html)).

The camera then panned over to a man of Asian appearance before showing a bottle of antiseptic hand wash, with a new caption then showing which read: “This virus gunna have to be quicker than that to catch me.”

Alli quickly deleted the post, before sharing another video on a Chinese social media platform in which he apologised for his actions ([BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51652439)). He has until Thursday 5th March to respond to the charge.

Loads of Spurs fans have been reacting to the news, with many worried that the England international could now face a ban which would deplete their squad further with Son Heung-min and Harry Kane already missing through injury.

Here is what some had to say about it on Twitter…

> Putting the team in an even more difficult position. We will have no squad left by the end of the season the way it’s going.

> Oh great. More good news.
>
> As I understand it, he sent it privately to a “mate” (prob ex-mate now) who then leaked it. He didn’t publicly tweet it etc
>
> I’m not excusing what he did but how does a leaked private comment/poor taste joke bring the game into disrepute?
