# Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react to news Llorente has been offered a new one-year deal

**Some Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Fernando Llorente has been offered a new one-year deal at the club after his contract expired at the end of last season ([Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7264013/Fernando-Llorente-handed-way-Tottenham-one-year-deal.html)).**

The Spaniard [scored just one goal in 20 Premier League appearances](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/13361/Show/Fernando-Llorente) last term, although he only started in six of those games.

And he also played a major part in the Lilywhites’ incredible Champions League run as he scored the [pivotal goal in their quarter-final tie with Manchester City](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47953693) and then he was involved in the build-up to [Lucas Moura’s strike](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48192369) which took them through to the final.

Yet despite the 34-year-old’s important contribution to Tottenham’s historic run to Madrid, there are still some fans who are not sold on the idea of him being a suitable back-up to Harry Kane.

However, others believe the club will struggle to attract a top quality forward given Kane has proven himself as the man to lead the line for five seasons now having netted [over 20 goals for five consecutive seasons](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harry-kane/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/132098).

Here is some of the reaction to the news:

> He offers absolutely nothing! Seems this is a desperate and cheap option very typical of levy and enic and a move that seems to signal we aren’t buying any forward players so Kane will get flogged again this season and no doubt get hurt once more! > I would rather Spurs sign [@petercrouch](https://twitter.com/petercrouch?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) than give Llorente another year. At least Crouchy knows where the goal is!

> We won’t get a striker while Kane is at the club . The whole world knows he won’t get dropped even when half fit so good getting Llorente back in as he does a job and don’t complain.
