# Tottenham Hotspur: Graham Potter would snub Spurs managerial role

**Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter would reportedly snub the opportunity to take on the same role at Tottenham Hotspur \[[The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/15404444/tottenham-next-manager-graham-potter-brighton/)\].**

### The Lowdown: Spurs still managerless

Much uncertainly looms over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the north London side gear up for 2021/22. Still managerless since Jose Mourinho was sacked in April \[[BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/56799400)\], many fans will be looking for clarity ahead of their extensive rebuild.

Nuno Espirito Santo is the leading candidate for the position following talks with the Spurs hierarchy \[[BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/57604428)\], but one man who definitely will not be coming to the club even if he is asked is Seagulls boss Potter.

### The Latest: Potter will definitely not be Spurs’ new manager

The 46-year-old is in no rush to leave his current club. Contracted until 2025, he would cost an extortionate £15m to prise away from the Amex Stadium \[[The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/15404444/tottenham-next-manager-graham-potter-brighton/)\].

Spurs momentarily had a passing interest in his services, but it is understood from people close to the former Swansea manager that he would only be tempted to leave Brighton for a ‘top four’ club – namely Manchester City or Liverpool – as he continues to cultivate his reputation \[[The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/15404444/tottenham-next-manager-graham-potter-brighton/)\].

### The Verdict: Potter denouncement is another blow for Spurs hierarchy

These developments will surely come as a major frustration to Tottenham supporters and the club’s hierarchy. Going almost two-and-a-half months without a full-time manager , the Lilywhites face a race against time in order to start assembling a squad in the image of a prospective new boss come pre-season.

Potter may have been an ideal fit for the role, owing to his reputation for [attacking football](https://www.brightonandhoveindependent.co.uk/sport/football/brighton-and-hove-albion/pep-guardiolas-training-secrets-may-just-reveal-graham-potters-brighton-tactics-3221602) and maximising the output of individuals. Across his managerial career, he has picked up an impressive 153 wins from 360 fixtures \[[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/graham-potter/leistungsdatenDetail/trainer/23954)\].

Once labelled as ‘the best English manager right now’ by two-time Champions League-winning manager Pep Guardiola \[[Sussex Live](https://www.sussexlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/guardiola-statement-potter-brighton-villa-4887722)\], the 46-year-old seems to have a bright future as a head coach. As for Spurs, their best course of action would be to announce a manager in the coming weeks, with Nuno looking set to be that man \[[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/terms-agreed-nuno-set-to-be-appointed-the-new-tottenham-manager-sources/)\].
