# Tottenham: Maw gives Richarlison ‘big moment’ prediction

**James Maw of The Athletic has tipped a ‘big moment’ for [Richarlison](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/richarlison/) in a [Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) shirt before the end of the season.**

### The Lowdown: Slow start

Richarlison [joined](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12643134/richarlison-tottenham-complete-60m-deal-for-everton-forward) [Antonio Conte’s](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/antonio-conte/) side last summer, costing £60 million from fellow [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) side Everton.

The Brazilian has [yet to score](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/richarlison/leistungsdaten/spieler/378710) a league goal so far this season but has provided three assists and netted two times in the Champions League.

Spurs’ number nine [impressed](https://www.football.london/international-football/richarlison-brazil-gabriel-jesus-firmino-25601468) many at the World Cup last winter, as he [hit the back of the net](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/richarlison/nationalmannschaft/spieler/378710/wettbewerb_id/WM22) three times in four tournament matches.

### The Latest: ‘Big moment’ prediction

Maw predicted that Richarlison will deliver a huge moment for Tottenham before the season ends when speaking to [The View From The Lane Podcast](https://open.spotify.com/episode/2WlehEeB6GCaVdCp0QS8Lb?si=97792c456f294af0).

He stated (32:48), “I still think Richarlison is gonna have a big moment in this season. I just feel like there’s gonna be a big goal or an incredible game where we remember that as being the game where it kind of started for him or he made a big contribution to a big season.

“I just have that feeling with him, he just has that kind of energy of a player who provides a big moment and we saw that at the World Cup.”

### The Verdict: The talent’s there

We believe that Richarlison has the tools to be a top talent at Spurs, it’s just whether he and Conte can work out how to do that.

When he played for Everton, the 25-year-old only failed to score a [double-digit tally](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/richarlison/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/378710) in one Premier League season. Richarlison scored 10 league goals last season, a campaign where the Toffees [narrowly avoided](https://www.premierleague.com/matchweek/6699/table) relegation.

One potential issue in our view is his [attitude](https://twitter.com/5liveSport/status/1510635170377916423?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1510635170377916423%7Ctwgr%5E8d3fc91119937e5da505aaa2de2a95547cbc820e%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-3348739256147608428.ampproject.net%2F2301261900000%2Fframe.html), pundit Noel Whelan labelled him as ‘babyish’ when speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/everton-news-whelan-savages-disgraceful-richarlison-after-what-hes-seen/).

Our view is that Richarlison shouldn’t be written off so soon, as it’s still the [early stages](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/richarlison/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/378710/plus/0?saison=&verein=148&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) of his and will need time to settle into a new team.

Having said that, we feel there will be immense pressure on him due to his [hefty](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12643134/richarlison-tottenham-complete-60m-deal-for-everton-forward) price tag, so for his sake he needs to start delivering sooner rather than later.
