# Tottenham Hotspur: Kalidou Koulibaly tipped for move as Napoli exodus nears

**Writing for [football.london](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/spurs-transfers-koulibaly-milik-malcuit-19346260), journalist Matthew Gault has tipped Spurs to move for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as a potential mass exodus from Napoli could happen in January – especially considering manager Gennaro Gattuso has reportedly fallen out with his players.**

Koulibaly, who was [briefly linked with a switch to Spurs](https://sportslens.com/tottenham-fans-react-to-kalidou-koulibaly-transfer-link/299190/) over the summer, is also hot on the radar of several top European clubs who wish to prise away one of the best centre-backs in Europe.

### Koulibaly tipped for Spurs

The 29-year-old attracted heavy interest from Man City during the transfer window, but after long, drawn out negotiations – [talks eventually broke down](https://www.republicworld.com/sports-news/football-news/napoli-president-city-dont-talk-directly-after-broken-deal-2-years-ago.html) with the Sky Blues swooping for Ruben Dias instead.

Now, with a potential mass exodus on the cards at Napoli, Spurs have been tipped to take full advantage and snap up Koulibaly – coming after Sky Sports journalist [Gianluca Di Marzio](https://twitter.com/SkySportsNews/status/1255182128054181888) explained the great relationship between Daniel Levy and his representatives.

### Transfer Tavern take

Described as a player ‘[Mourinho would absolutely love](https://www.footballinsider247.com/mourinho-would-absolutely-love-him-exclusive-mills-wowed-by-reported-tottenham-pursuit/)‘, the 6 foot 5 machine has been a revelation in Serie A over these last few campaigns – averaging more [tackles and interceptions per 90](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/90880/History/Kalidou-Koulibaly) last season than summer Tottenham target[Milan Skriniar.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/302918/History/Milan-Skriniar)

A truly ‘[magnificent](https://www.footballinsider247.com/mourinho-would-absolutely-love-him-exclusive-mills-wowed-by-reported-tottenham-pursuit/)‘ defender, Levy would have to pay big money in order to bring him to north London – but his composure at the back ahead of a gruelling and congested second half of 2020/2021 could be well be worth every penny.

Averaging a [91% pass accuracy](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/90880/History/Kalidou-Koulibaly) last season, Koulibaly could be the defensive linchpin Jose Mourinho desires if Spurs are to truly challenge for the Premier League.
