# Tottenham Hotspur: Lilywhites chiefs perform Harry Kane U-turn as report shares behind-scenes developments

**According to a report by [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-united-in-pole-position-to-sign-kane-as-tottenham/), lifting the lid on ‘behind the scenes developments’ with Manchester United in pole position for Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur chiefs have also apparently performed a U-turn on their price stance.**

### The Lowdown: Kane wants to leave…

[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12309404/harry-kane-again-tells-tottenham-he-wants-to-leave-as-manchester-city-manchester-united-chelsea-lie-in-wait) first broke the news of Kane’s desire to leave north London this summer, with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea all interested from the Premier League.

However, despite his exit stance, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is unwilling to let his star striker depart, and reports claim that it could take around [£150m in cash](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9271717/Tottenham-set-150m-price-tag-Harry-Kane-Man-City-United-keen-England-captain.html?fbclid=IwAR3nKVtoB3Mt15BMeKwGtsVuhoDlzVFenYyWV1Iz3TGR4tDsK6-08KePif0) to get Tottenham talking.

### The Latest: Chiefs perform Kane U-turn…

As per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-united-in-pole-position-to-sign-kane-as-tottenham/), Tottenham chiefs have performed a U-turn when it comes to the price at which they will consider selling Kane, with the report saying there has been a ‘shift in stance’.

Manchester United are now allegedly in pole position to sign the 27-year-old this summer and have been given encouragement by Spurs that a deal can in fact be done. Following ‘behind the scenes developments’, the Lilywhites’ hierarchy have apparently changed their original private stance that it would take an offer of £150m for the player before a deal would be considered.

Instead, Tottenham have apparently asked for ‘£100 million plus two first-team stars in part-exchange’, with the Red Devils now hopeful of beating both Man City and Chelsea to his signature.

### The Verdict: Reasonable deal?

Spurs need to make signings of their own this summer and bolster key areas of the pitch such as centre-back, but we believe that selling Kane for £100m plus two Old Trafford first-teamers would still be a gamble.

The England captain bagged an incredible [23 goals and 14 assists in 35 Premier League starts](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/83532/Show/Harry-Kane) over 2020/21, winning the division’s [Golden Boot](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/torschuetzenkoenige/wettbewerb/GB1) prize, and was vital to Tottenham’s season.

Replacing that kind of contribution will be challenging, to say the least, and Levy will have a huge decision to make this summer over whether to part ways with the Spurs legend.
