# Tottenham Hotspur: Lilywhites ‘in contact’ over Sporting Lisbon winger Jovane Cabral

**According to a report courtesy of [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-make-approach-for-sporting-lisbon-forward/), Tottenham Hotspur have made an ‘approach’ to sign Sporting Lisbon winger Jovane Cabral and have been ‘in contact’ to register their interest – with the £9 million-valued ace emerging as a potential attacking target.**

Cabral, who started 10 games for the Portuguese outfit last season, is starting to turn heads as a real talent who can cause problems out wide – a notion made evident by his impressive [WhoScored numbers.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/361964/Show/Jovane-Cabral)

Over 2019/2020, the youngster averaged a higher number of completed dribbles per match than [any player in the Spurs squad](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/30/Show/England-Tottenham)– including star winger Son Heung-min.

Meanwhile, when it comes to shots on goal, Cabral’s impressive [2.9 efforts per 90](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/361964/Show/Jovane-Cabral) trumps England striker [Harry Kane](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/30/Show/England-Tottenham) – with the winger evidently providing a real threat when introduced.

Now, as a potential result, Spurs have taken notice of his exploits in the Primeira Liga and have come knocking over his signature – making an enquiry to Sporting and declaring their interest as per [Football Insider.](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-make-approach-for-sporting-lisbon-forward/)

Valued at just [£9 million by Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jovane-cabral/profil/spieler/448466), Cabral could represent a bargain as chairman Daniel Levy attempts to navigate a never-before-seen window potentially affected by a worldwide global pandemic.

It is likely that Sporting will value the player at a higher price, but given the fact Levy has managed to negotiate relatively cheap summer deals for Matt Doherty ([£15m](https://www.goal.com/en/news/tottenham-confirm-15m-signing-of-wolves-defender-doherty/jvypgj2goyki1he7s5l9w2tbj)) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ([£15m](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/tottenham-transfer-news-hojbjerg-fee-southampton-squad-number-a9665146.html)), as well as the signing of [75-cap veteran Joe Hart](https://www.englandfootballonline.com/TeamPlyrsBios/PlayersH/BioHartCJ.html) on a free transfer, you could be forgiven for thinking that Spurs may just have another ace up their sleeve.
