# Tottenham Hotspur: Lilywhites preparing offer to sign Mikkel Damsgaard

**According to a report by Italian newspaper La Republicca (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/tottenham-preparing-offer-sign-winger-fabio-paratici-case/)), Tottenham Hotspur are ‘preparing an offer’ to sign Sampdoria sensation Mikkel Damsgaard – with managing director Fabio Paratici firmly on his case.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs in Damsgaard chase?

Numerous reports have backed Tottenham’s interest in the Denmark international over this last month.

\[freshpress-quiz id=”368197″\]

La Repubblica (via [TUTTOmercatoWEB](https://m.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie-a/i-la-repubblica-i-samp-il-tottenham-accelera-per-damsgaard-pronti-25-milioni-1562438)) claimed last month that Spurs were in pole position to sign Damsgaard ahead of all other competitors and were ready to lodge a €25 million (£21.2m) offer.

Since then, claims in the English media have backed Tottenham’s interest as [The Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-transfer-latest-mikkel-damsgaard-noni-madueke-b949083.html) report they have him on their radar.

### The Latest: Spurs ‘preparing’ Damsgaard offer…

Bringing another update similar to last month’s, La Repubblica (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/tottenham-preparing-offer-sign-winger-fabio-paratici-case/)) believe Tottenham are now ‘preparing an offer’ to sign Damsgaard.

It is also believed that Paratici is personally on his case and orchestrating a move for Denmark’s rising star.

While Tottenham face competition from Premier League rivals Leeds United, this report states that Nuno Espirito Santo and the Lilywhites are ‘out in front’.

### The Verdict: Get it done…

If ever Spurs wanted a perfect replacement for ex-star Christian Eriksen, they should look no further than Damsgaard.

The attacking midfield player summed up his talent with a [stunning Euro 2020 semi-final free kick](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/57757682) against England at Wembley and has attracted huge praise from pundits.

His former youth coach, Kasper Kurland, has detailed the ‘gigantic buzz’ around Damsgaard back in Denmark ([inews](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/mikkel-damsgaard-tottenham-transfer-denmark-euro-2020-christian-eriksen-1070345)), while Serie A expert Conor Clancy likened the 21-year-old to Eriksen – calling him a ‘very exciting’ player ([This is Futbol](https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/08/blogs/premier-league/tottenham-hotspur/potentially-premier-league-bound-damsgaard-likened-to-eriksen-by-serie-a-expert-e186/)).

If Tottenham can get him over the line, we believe he would be a very shrewd purchase.
