# Tottenham Hotspur: Lilywhites source makes teasing Franck Kessie claim

**Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-insider-expects-attractive-offer-for-kessie-as-january-pre-contract-on-the-cards/), Tottenham Hotspur and ‘[insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-insider-expects-attractive-offer-for-kessie-as-january-pre-contract-on-the-cards/)‘/club source John Wenham has made a teasing transfer claim involving AC Milan star Franck Kessie.**

### The Lowdown: Kessie in new deal drama…

As per [reports](https://www.90min.com/posts/franck-kessie-transfer-contract-expire-chelsea-man-utd-psg-liverpool-arsenal), Milan are sweating over the future of one of their star assets, with no agreement in sight on a contract extension at the San Siro.

This has alerted clubs throughout Europe looking for a powerful and assured midfield presence and it is believed that a move to the Premier League is high on Kessie’s own agenda ([90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/franck-kessie-transfer-contract-expire-chelsea-man-utd-psg-liverpool-arsenal)).

Tottenham are believed to be [one of the clubs interested](https://www.90min.com/posts/franck-kessie-transfer-contract-expire-chelsea-man-utd-psg-liverpool-arsenal) in a move and Spurs insider Wenham has now come out with his own teasing claim.

### The Latest: Insider drops teasing claim…

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-insider-expects-attractive-offer-for-kessie-as-january-pre-contract-on-the-cards/), the Lilywhites source says that he knows Spurs are indeed eyeing the Ivory Coast international and he believes managing director Fabio Paratici may well present an ‘attractive offer’.

Wenham explained: “I know one player they are looking at is Kessie of AC Milan.

“He is a holding midfielder and he can bring more of that Serie A experience Paratici loves. He’s 24 and could come straight into the starting eleven. Let’s see where that one goes.

“There will be a lot of teams interested in him as a free contract player. He probably has a market value of around £40million as a valuable holding midfielder.

“Tottenham have been linked with him and I think the club will present an attractive offer to him. We can offer him good wages if he comes on a free transfer pre-contract arrangement.

“This is one Paratici will be working on with his links to the Serie A.”

### The Verdict: Big statement…

Lauded as a ‘[devastating’](https://www.google.com/amp/s/sempremilan.com/cassano-showers-devastating-kessie-with-praise-and-compares-him-to-prime-yaya-toure/amp) player by former Italy international Antonio Cassano, landing the 24-year-old on a pre-contract agreement would come as Paratici’s biggest masterstroke at Spurs yet by some distance.

Despite being a natural defensive midfielder, Kessie bagged 13 Serie A goals and four assists in a more advanced role last term and completed a brilliant 88.9% of his passes in midfield ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/277269/History/Franck-Kessi%C3%A9)).

Something of an all-rounder, he would surely come as a very, very astute purchase for the under-fire Nuno Espirito Santo – if indeed the 47-year-old is [still at the N17 helm](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-hotspur-michael-bridge-shares-his-belief-of-when-nuno-espirito-santo-could-be-axed/) by the next transfer window.
