# Tottenham Hotspur: Major stadium naming rights deal update emerges

**There has been a major off-field update out of Tottenham Hotspur on the club’s long-time pursuit of a lucrative stadium naming rights deal.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs chase mega money contract…

Since the Lilywhites moved into their brand new, state of the art ground worth an estimated [£850 million](https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/47787388), chairman Daniel Levy and the Spurs board have been actively seeking out a mega-money stadium naming rights deal.

Levy has been holding out for a [£25 million-per-year agreement](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/12/18/tottenham-hold-world-record-25m-a-year-deal-sell-stadium-naming/) since the end of 2019 as their negotiations with various blue-chip companies continue over two years on.

Household brands like Amazon and Nike were tipped with a real interest in securing the deal for Spurs’ naming rights but neither talks or an agreement materialised ([The Daily Mail)](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8223223/Amazon-emerge-contenders-Tottenhams-main-stadium-naming-rights.html).

Tottenham even enlisted the help of former NFL executive Todd Kline as chief commercial officer this time last year.

The club board member helped to[facilitate an 18-year naming rights deal](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-news-todd-kline-chief-commercial-officer-stadium-naming-rights-deal-b919582.html) for the Miami Dolphins worth an estimated [£180 million,](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-news-todd-kline-chief-commercial-officer-stadium-naming-rights-deal-b919582.html) yet neither Kline or Spurs have managed to seal a deal as things stand.

### The Latest: Tottenham open talks…

Now, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-tottenham-open-talks-over-500m-naming-rights-deal/), the search for a mega-money agreement has taken a ‘new step’ with talks now held over a naming rights deal worth up to £500 million.

Indeed, it is claimed that Tottenham negotiations have taken place with an unnamed company over a possible 20-year contract – though the result of these talks isn’t specified.

### The Verdict: Huge…

A possible naming rights deal worth this much over 20 years would come as absolutely huge, especially considering it could go a long way to paying off Tottenham’s debts.

The club announced a huge [£84 million loss after tax](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2021/november/financial-results-year-end-30-june-2021/) in their most recent financial statement with a naming rights handshake arguably crucial in helping to steer Spurs back on course.

As fans arguably wait in baited breath to see if a deal can finally materialise, it will certainly be an interesting development to keep watch over.
