# Tottenham Hotspur: Man United star Jesse Lingard on Spurs radar, Englishman open to move

**According to a report from [the Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/dele-allis-future-hangs-in-balance-as-tottenham-eye-move-for-jesse-lingard-cw22q9sg3?wgu=270525_54264_1600675988435_735c089530&wgexpiry=1608451988&utm_source=planit&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_content=22278), Spurs and manager Jose Mourinho are keen on signing Man United star Jesse Lingard as midfielder Dele Alli’s future hangs in the balance – especially considering the latter Englishman has been left out of the club’s last two match day squads.**

After Tottenham secured the signings of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon in a sensational double swoop, surplus-to-requirement figures have been tipped to inevitably make way in an effort to balance the books.

The two assets, who have[grabbed headlines galore](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1337371/Tottenham-Gareth-Bale-Sergio-Reguilon-transfer-news-Real-Madrid) following their announcements as Spurs players, will cost Daniel Levy a grand total of £42.5 million according to reports by [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54220882) and the [Evening Standard.](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/gareth-bale-tottenham-transfer-latest-real-madrid-loan-fee-wages-a4549781.html)

Alli, who has been [frozen out by manager Mourinho](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/dele-allis-future-hangs-in-balance-as-tottenham-eye-move-for-jesse-lingard-cw22q9sg3?wgu=270525_54264_1600675988435_735c089530&wgexpiry=1608451988&utm_source=planit&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_content=22278) amid continued reports he could be heading for the exit door, was also at the centre of rumours linking him with Real Madrid in a[swap deal for Bale.](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-transfer-rumours/tottenham-hotspur-gabriel-agbonlahor-tips-spurs-to-swap-dele-alli-for-real-madrid-star-gareth-bale/)

Now, due to the alleged unrest, a report from the Times claims Tottenham view Lingard as a potential successor for Alli if they can find a willing bidder – and the Red Devils playmaker has a market valuation of around [£15.75 million.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660)

Added to that, the same outlet also claim that the former Birmingham City loanee would be [open to a move](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/jesse-lingard-mulls-future-after-being-frozen-out-at-manchester-united-s5zl85ztv) to north London as he mulls over his future at Old Trafford having not even made the 18-man squad for their 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace.

Amassing [24 caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660) for England, Lingard has bags of experience on the biggest stages in football at just 27-years-old, and United could be forced to try and make a sale quickly due to his contract expiring at the [end of this season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jesse-lingard/profil/spieler/141660) (if he doesn’t take the option to extend by one year).

Hailed as ‘[unique](https://onefootball.com/en/news/manchester-united-legend-praises-unique-jesse-lingard-20514751)‘ by ex-Premier League midfield star Michael Carrick, these accolades may well point to a surprisingly fruitful Alli replacement – but Lingard’s lack of game time recently and seeming slump in form over the last season could also make him a slight gamble.
