# Tottenham Hotspur: Many fans are backing Paulo Gazzaniga

**With Hugo Lloris out for the rest of 2019, as reported by [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49963964), Paulo Gazzaniga will likely be between the sticks for Tottenham Hotspur during that time.**

The 27-year-old old has come out and insisted that he is ready to step up in the club captain’s absence, when speaking to Spurs’ [**official channels**](https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2019/october/paulo-its-always-the-same-answer-im-ready/):

> “It’s about having the right mentality and being focussed, starting against Watford.”[@GazzanigaPaulo](https://twitter.com/GazzanigaPaulo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) on why he’s ready for his longest stint in the team.[#THFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/THFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) [#COYS](https://twitter.com/hashtag/COYS?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

While there are some fans who are sceptical about the thought of having the Argentinian in goal for such a long period, there are many who have come out to back him, offering plenty of encouragement.

He has played three games this season – the loss against Leicester City, Carabao Cup defeat to Colchester United and loss at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion – conceding a total of four goals, keeping one clean sheet, as per [**Transfermarkt**](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paulo-gazzaniga/leistungsdaten/spieler/195488).
