# Tottenham Hotspur: Many fans want Christian Eriksen to leave in January

**Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have grown frustrated with Christian Eriksen this season, with the Dane becoming an [easy target](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/tottenham/tottenham-hotspur-these-fans-slated-christian-eriksen-for-his-performance-against-olympiacos/) for criticism.**

\[freshpress-poll id=”250659″\]

This comes as the 27-year-old has refused to sign a new contract with the club, despite his current deal coming to an end in the summer, as per [**Transfermarkt**](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/profil/spieler/69633).

Therefore, there has been a good reaction to the news that he could be heading to Real Madrid during the January transfer window:

> .[@DiarioAS](https://twitter.com/diarioas?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) and [@Marca](https://twitter.com/marca?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)‘s front covers both report that Real Madrid could bring [#thfc](https://twitter.com/hashtag/thfc?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) midfielder Christian Eriksen to the Santiago Bernabéu in January. This seems like a positive development for Spurs, judging by the response of many fans, as it would allow them to get a fee for him, while the general consensus is that he has [not been at his best this season](https://www.clubcall.com/premier-league/tottenham-hotspur/2019/10/08/eriksen-admits-to-hardest-period-of-spurs-career/), possibly due to the midfielder’s attention being elsewhere.

In 11 appearances across the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup, Eriksen has managed just 1 goal and 1 assist, as per [**Transfermarkt**](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/christian-eriksen/leistungsdaten/spieler/69633), while he also missed a penalty in the shootout loss to Colchester United.

A selection of Twitter reaction to the report, including posts from excited Spurs fans, can be seen below:

> We should go for it. His numbers are insane for us but his head’s not in it anymore, better for him to leave before we keep paying the price for his inconsistent performances and before he ruins his reputation even more. Also need someone who can beat the first man at corners

> Do the right thing [@ChrisEriksen8](https://twitter.com/ChrisEriksen8?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) Either commit long term or leave & let the club get some sort of return! You owe us that at least !
