Tottenham fans react to Antonio Conte’s press conference rant

Tottenham Hotspur fans expressed their agreement with Antonio Conte in the wake of the manager’s remarkable post-match press conference after the 3-3 draw with Southampton.
The Lowdown: Conte fuming
After his side sacrificed a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 against struggling Southampton on Saturday afternoon, Conte launched a scathing attack on his ‘selfish’ players that ‘don’t want to help each other’.
It was not only the players that came under fire, with the Italian also appearing to criticise owner Daniel Levy, saying: “This is Tottenham’s story. 20 years of the owner & they never win anything. Why?”
The Latest: Spurs fans react
Taking to Twitter after what Alasdair Gold described as ‘one of the most remarkable press conferences’ he’s ever been involved in, some Spurs fans appeared to be happy about their manager speaking out against the players and board. They said:
“Spurs fans should be praising Conte here not demanding him to be sacked. He’s talking absolute truth here. Wake up!! Loser club with some proper loser fans. That’s half the problem for me. Mentality shift needed.” – @ThrussellJames
“For the first time in decades someone has spoken up and shown us the already known truth! We cannot go against him! #contein” – @Br0wnmillenial
“He SHOULD take everything down with him. Daniel Levy is a businessman. He is not a proper football owner for a big 6 club. Money will always mean more than winning to him. At least Conte had the courage to tell the truth. I love him for it.” – @JohnKreger
“It’s the truth, finally a manager has said it publicly. Whatever the opinion is of Conte, you cannot say he is wrong.” – @JP1976THFC
“He’s bang on. The players are a disgrace, bottle jobs, no fight, no desire and every year is the same.” – @Punting4aLiving
“Conte’s last gift to the fans is taking Levy down on his way out. Love it.” – @ToDareIsTo
The Verdict: Time to go
While large parts of Conte’s criticism is probably warranted, given the terrible performance from his side in the latter stages of yesterday’s game, his comments in the press conference must surely bring his time at the club to an end.
To publicly criticise your employer is a very bold move, and doing so perhaps indicates the 53-year-old is looking to be sacked early, rather than waiting to mutually part ways at the end of the season, as recently suggested.
With serial winners like Conte and Jose Mourinho failing to achieve any success with Tottenham, whoever the next manager is will face a very difficult task, and it is a decision Levy must get right.
