The hierarchy at Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly now 'increasingly confident' that Antonio Conte will sign a bumper new deal.

Conte has been linked with a shock move back to Juventus over the past few weeks, with current manager Max Allegri coming under increasing pressure at the Old Lady.

Tottenham's form has been shaky of late, losing two of their last four games in all competitions to Sporting and North London rivals Arsenal, while they also slumped to a disappointing 0-0 draw away at Eintracht Frankfurt last time out (Sky Sports).

They play Brighton and Hove Albion away from home in the Premier League this evening, who come off the back of an impressive 3-3 draw away at Liverpool, and are currently just three points behind Spurs in fourth place in the table.

The Latest: Conte new deal

As per Football Insider, the Lilywhites have offered Conte a bumper new deal worth in excess of £20m-a-year, which would make him the highest-paid manager in the Premier League, with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season.

Talks are currently ongoing, but the Tottenham hierarchy are 'increasingly confident' of reaching an agreement.

The Verdict: Major boost

If Conte does end up signing the new contract, then it will no doubt be a major boost for Spurs.

They may be having a blip at the moment, but the Italian is still a world-class coach, as emphasised by how much he has won in the game, including a Premier League title with Chelsea, and other domestic titles with Inter Milan and Juventus (Transfermarkt).

Coming in midway through last season, he was a key factor in Tottenham qualifying for the UEFA Champions League at the expense of rivals Arsenal, and started off this campaign unbeaten until the loss at Sporting in mid-September.

Nonetheless, signing a new deal will also stop the noise outside from the likes of Juve, and should give the players a lift going into the next run of fixtures.
