Graham Roberts has urged Giovani Lo Celso to replicate his form for Argentina in the Premier League for Tottenham.

Lo Celso has endured a stop-start two years since his arrival from Real Betis in the summer of 2019 and has missed 36 first-team matches with different hip and muscle problems.

He became a regular in Jose Mourinho's final few days as manager, and was then heavily used by Ryan Mason, starting five of his seven games in charge.

Such was Lo Celso's strong end to the campaign, he's started all but one of his nation's games at the Copa America and played 56 minutes in their semi-final victory on penalties over Colombia earlier this week.

But the 25-year-old has been unable to prove his fitness for Spurs following several niggles and has failed to find the form that he showed during his final year at Betis, which earned him the move to England.

However, he appears to be gathering momentum on international duty, and Roberts exclusively told The Transfer Tavern to take his confidence into the new season:

"I'm reading this morning that he's playing really well for Argentina.

"Well, he needs to show that and stop getting little injuries and play a full season, then people can say yes or no.

"So, there's a lot of questions to be answered and it's down to the players."
