Carlton Palmer has exclusively told The Transfer Tavern that he believes Raheem Sterling would be interested in signing for Tottenham.

The England star has won a host of major trophies since making the move to Manchester City from Liverpool in 2015, including three Premier League titles.

However, whilst Sterling contributed 26 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions for the champions last season, he lost his way towards the end of the campaign and often found himself on the bench.

He didn't start any of City's quarter-final or semi-final Champions League ties, only returning for the final defeat against Chelsea in Lisbon.

With Jack Grealish, who plays in the same position as him, reportedly on the verge of joining Pep Guardiola's side, Sterling has been linked with Tottenham as part of a potential move to see his England colleague Harry Kane move to the Etihad Stadium.

ESPN previously reported that Sterling, who is valued at £81m by Transfermarkt, wouldn't be keen on the north London outfit, but Palmer begs to differ.

He told The Transfer Tavern:

"He needs to play, and he didn't get enough game time last season. I think he would be interested in the move; I think he would. He signed a new contract, and they would have to pay him an awful lot of money.

"So, I don't know if Tottenham are in the market, but I could see that being a deal that could go through."
